Don't let this day go one moment further without understanding that God loves you.
It is not a selfish love, which is based on what you can do for Him.
It is not a soulish love that has to be worked up in the flesh.
It is not a deceitful love which pretends that you are just fine in your sin.
It is not a fleeting love, which is here one moment and gone the next.
It is a love that knows you at your worse, yet sees you as His best saying with arms outstretched, "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

ReplyDeleteI have to second theepottershand response because as of late - I have been convicted by the Holy Spirit about my belief in God's love for me. I know that I doubt His love for me and a lot of times I get frustrated because no matter how much I pray for His love to fill me and for me to know the depth and height and breadth and width of His love, I still can't understand it. I walk around confused and depressed because if I could just know and really believe His love -- I'll be set FREE!

ReplyDeleteI do believe that God's love is unfathomable and that no man can comprehend it. It is awesome and so much bigger, deeper than we can imagine. It doesn't help that our view of "love" in the world is perverted; usually a direct reflection of how others treat us. This is the total opposite of God's love.
Yet, it is possible and (as Min. Wilkerson says) necessary for us to know that He loves us. Truly knowing God as our Father is one of the most precious gifts He gives.
I can only imagine how the disciples felt when Jesus answered their question about how to pray and He said, "Say Our Father..." The Jews knew God as omnipotent, omniscient, and sovereign; but He was so holy that He was someone who was far removed from them (in their minds). Yet here was Jesus saying to call Him Father. As amazed as we are about such sentiment, they must have really struggled with such a concept. We only need to look at Peter's reaction after denying Christ to know that God as Father was not fully understood.
I do believe it takes time as God changes our minds and draws us closer to Him to know in our heart of hearts that such is true. Sister, I will add this to my prayer list, that God impress upon you in a very real way His love for you as your Father. That He would give you the peace to know that He created you and knows all of your weaknesses, but loves you completely any way. For you to know that you Emily are the apple of His eye.
