A resource I recommend in this area...Hi Anonymous,

A resource I recommend in this area is "Should We Tithe" by Charles Halff. It is a small booklet that is worth buying a copy of (I have one myself).

However, you can also read the text of this booklet online here.

God's command for Christians as it relates to giving is seen in II Corinthians 9:7:

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give [notice that EVERY man is to decide within himself how much to give; it is not based on any preset figure from God]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: [We are not forced to give NOR is there a necessity/requirement that we give] for God loveth a cheerful giver."

The bottom line is that when we come to Christ, our whole life becomes His (Rom. 12:1). Why then would He command 10% of something which is already 100% His, purchased by His blood? If we are truly His, then all that we have is His to use as He desires. He has more than our 10%, but He has all we are and ever hope to be.

Only those who have not given all of themselves to the Lord would harp on an imaginary requirement of a 10% tithe. God's standards are much more all-encompassing than that, but he requires a willing sacrifice.

The following article may also help: Made in God's Image

May God continue to strengthen and guide you!Latter Days Ministryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15405696673350225699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-793573695603056525.post-57065656382189123612011-06-09T09:20:24.232-04:002011-06-09T09:20:24.232-04:00Good day

It pricks me and makes me uncomfortable forcing me to look at my walk with God and do some drastic changes. God bless you and your family greatly for this act.

I just want to make a request. Where I stay there are not preachers who preach away from Tithing. Infact our pastor at church last sunday decided to start a series on fasting. After listening to him - even after having read the book of Hebrews, which he touched on, I left there almost convinced that I should start tithing again and not just giving of free will offerings.

How he explained it is that tithing started way before the law (Genesis 14:16-20)and Genenis 28:20-22 so this means that it is not part of the Mosaic law. He also refered to Luke 11:42 and Matthew 23:23 where Jesus was rebuking the pharasees for tithing but neclecting to love etc. I know in my heart that we are set free from the bondage of the Law in our High Priest Jesus Christ. If you could me recommend any pastor who has done a in depth message on this issues as it is truly troubling me. Thank youAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
