Lent and the Celebration of Tammuz

Throughout the churchworld, there is an increasing number of professing Christians who not only celebrate Easter (which is really Ishtar), but also take part in a season called Lent which precedes it.
Etymology of the word "Easter"
O.E. Eastre (Northumbrian Eostre), from P.Gmc. *Austron, a goddess of fertility and sunrise whose feast was celebrated at the spring equinox, from *austra-, from PIE *aus- "to shine" (especially of the dawn). Bede says Anglo-Saxon Christians ADOPTED her name and many of the celebratory practices for their Mass of Christ's resurrection.
Yet, how many of those who participate in these "holy days" truly understand what they are celebrating or where these religious rites originated? How many know that the 40 days of Lent are the 40 days of weeping for Tammuz?

Christian Entertainment - An Evangelical Heresy

Thoughts from A.W. Tozer

The video below highlights a sermon from A.W. Tozer on the use of entertainment to win believers to Jesus Christ. It is well worth watching.

A few excerpts from this sermon are also noted below.

"The church which can't worship must be entertained."

"The desire for surface stimulation is the mark of the sinful nature. Baptized worldlings wanting a religious needle to give them a lift is not true Christianity."

"Any objection to today's 'golden calf Christianity' is met with the reply, "But we are winning them!" Winning them to what? True discipleship? Self-denial? Holy living? Total commitment to Jesus?"

Silly Women

"For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. " II Timothy 3:6-7

In speaking of the perilous times which shall come in the last days, God takes time to address a particular type of woman. He describes these type of women as:

  • Silly
  • Weighed down with sin
  • Filled with strange lusts
  • Puffed up with worldly knowledge
  • Lacking understanding of spiritual truths

Preparing the Way for the Anti-christ

There are some common beliefs being widely accepted by many which form the basis for the anti-christ mindset:
  • The political system in the United States gives people choice in governmental authority
  • Religion itself as the source of all evil & wars in human history
  • The world coming to an end in 2012 when we cross the galactic equator
  • The subconscious initiation/indoctrination of the public into esoteric symbols and occult rites
  • Depopulation agendas hidden as pro-earth, environmental protection plans
  • Move towards one world government, financial, and religious systems
  • The Masters of Wisdom, the emergence of Maitreya, and the satanic lie of "Christ-Consciousness"

Set for the Defence of the Gospel

Put Down Your Defenses

The word defences in Greek is the word apologia meaning "a reasoned statement or argument". It is the root from where we get the word apologetics, which is reflected in the text below.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ." I Peter 3:15-16

The Scriptures offer a number of statements about how we are to contend for the faith...righteously.

Simply Staggering

Exceeding Abundantly Above All That We Ask or Think

"Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." Romans 4:16-21
