"And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." II Corinthians 5:15
He died so that we may NEVER AGAIN live for ourselves, but that we from now on would live only for Him. Can we all say this is true for us?
If not, we should pray that it be made true.
In this sermon from Minister Zac Poonen, he discusses how many Christians still do not understand the "glory" of the Gospel. And yet this understanding is crucial to us being overcomers in this present life as we live for Jesus. I encourage you to listen to this message and may it bless you.
Thank You Once again for presenting another example of Truth. I listened to the entire message and I appreciated every word that was spoken. I love your site because it points believers in the direction of what we really should be concerning ourselves with. I believe there will come a time real soon in true Christians lives where they will have to seek Jesus like never before in their lives. We will face troubles that we will come to realize that only God through the power of the HolyGhost will be able to bring us out of. All of this will be in preparation for what is to come in these last days. Only the true Christians will be spared and the wheat and tares and those who did not even know they were tares will be separated. This is an exciting time and I look forward to what is to come.
ReplyDeleteI believe Christ died not only for that reason, but many reasons, reasons along the lines of sin, and the law of sin.
ReplyDeleteRoman 6:1-14
Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with,a that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
I feel that Jesus Christ died to sin so that we also may be dead to sin and become alive through Him.
Hi Estes,
ReplyDeleteYou are right that many things were accomplished in Christ's death. And, if we examine what you have written, it is all encompassed in that Scripture:
"And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." II Corinthians 5:15
Being baptized into Christ's death, being united with Him, walking in resurrected life, having victory over sin...all of these things is what it means to live no longer to ourselves but to only live for Christ.
We certainly serve a mighty God and He has given us every good thing so that we might live for Him alone!
