There were some questions from the previous post on this topic which I want to address.
Since I previously laid out the overall understanding of how the law applies to Christians, I want to go in-depth to review this topic so that there is no misunderstanding.
This may be a tedious exercise, but I believe it will be fruitful for those who take the time to read. In order to find the truth in this topic, we must search for it diligently.
I will not just throw up some Scriptures and claim they prove my point. I want everyone to think critically and for themselves to evaluate what the Scriptures are really saying...ALL of them.
In the previous article, we saw how the Scriptures indicate that we are NOT under the Old Covenant law, but we are under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
We Are Not Under the Law
"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to THEM who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God." Romans 3:19
"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for YE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid." Romans 6:14-15
"And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; TO THEM THAT ARE UNDER THE LAW, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law." I Corinthians 9:20-21
"Having ABOLISHED in his flesh the enmity, EVEN THE LAW OF THE COMMANDMENTS contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace" Ephesians 2:15
"For as many as are of the works of the law are UNDER A CURSE: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them." Galatians 3:10
"Christ hath REDEEMED US from the CURSE OF THE LAW, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree" Galatians 3:13
"But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are NO LONGER UNDER A SCHOOLMASTER." Galatians 3:23-25
"Tell me, YE THAT DESIRE TO BE UNDER THE LAW, do ye not hear the law?" Galatians 4:21 "But if ye be led of the Spirit, YE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW." Galatians 5:18
We Are Under the Law of the Spirit
"But now WE ARE DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter." Romans 7:6
"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus HATH MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW of sin and death." Romans 8:2
"That the righteousness of the LAW MIGHT BE FULFILLED IN US, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Romans 8:4
"This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, OR by the HEARING OF FAITH?" Galatians 3:2
"He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the HEARING OF FAITH?" Galatians 3:5
"But if ye BE LED OF THE SPIRIT, ye are not under the law." Galatians 5:18
