It has been interesting lately reading all of the hullaballu surrounding the Obama campaign as it relates to gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. The media, gay rights groups, and even Obama has come out against "bigoted" statements supposedly made by McClurkin.
What were the extent of such statements? "God has delivered me from the sin of homosexuality."
It is certainly clear why the homosexual movement would find such comments alarming. How dare someone imply that homosexuality is some sort of abnormal, deviant lifestyle that requires healing from God? Doesn't McClurkin know that gay sex is normal and that homosexuals do not have a choice in whom they love?
Church, you had better keep your wits about you. Scripture says that in the last days Satan will come in like a flood, and he has. We have reached the time when simply believing what the Bible says is enough to have you labeled as a "hater". Christianity has been so twisted and convoluted in the world (and much of that by the so-called church), that it is now defined according to worldly definitions of "love and tolerance" with a complete disregard for the Truths of the Bible.
Each individual is free to believe what they like and live as they please. God has given us a free will. Homosexuals have every right to be homosexuals. But if you are going to attest to faith in the Scriptures and in the ONLY Living God, then you need to know what He has to say about the matter.
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." I Corinthians 6:9-11
First, let us note that the individuals described in the first verse are labeled as unrighteous (not righteous; not upright or virtuous; wicked; sinful; evil). God's language towards these individuals is not ambiguous.
Second, these unrighteous included those who are "effeminate" (a catamite, homosexual relations with a man, of a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness) and "abusers of themselves with mankind" (one who lies with a male as with a female, sodomite, homosexual). Did God welcome such persons into His church? Absolutely!! Once a part of His church, did they remain that way? Absolutely NOT. But, they were washed. Now, even a kindergartner knows you only wash that which is dirty, or as the Word says, unrighteous.
As it turns out, the testimony of Donnie McClurkin is only a reflection of what the Scriptures has to say about the promises of redemption available to all those who come in faith to God. Is homosexuality the only sin? No. Is homosexuality the biggest sin? No. But it IS a sin. Yet praise God that like any other sin, it is one from which we can be washed, sanctified, and justified!
Now, this is not about McClurkin, neither is it about Obama...it is about YOU. What do you stand for? What do you believe? When confronted with the ever-increasing pressure to accept the doctrine of the world and forsake the doctrine of Christ, will you have the strength to stand? Will you turn away from what saith the Lord so that you don't ruffle feathers or to secure your own position in society? Will you change your testimony of what the Lord has done so as not to offend those who are blinded by their own sin?
Be not deceived, God is not mocked. If we deny Him, then He will deny us. Don't forsake your eternal hope for a perverted gospel that is powerless to save.
Tell it like it is! I tired of hearing people say all homosexuals are going to hell, that's nasty and so on. Nobody is loving these individuals, and bringing them to Christ. It is just as you say, it is a sin equal to any other sin listed. Therefore, we are all sinners in God's eye, and as Jesus said, "Take the plank out of you own eye first." What gets me is these new churches out there that are full of homosexuals condoning homosexuality when it is written plain and simple in the new and old testament. I was just speaking to a friend of mine the other day about the fact the there is no more fear of God in these churches. You know, back when people believed with fear in their hearts that God was the Judge and that we should not let sin be a daily part of lives, even less say that it's ok. Back then people believed in "Repent, and sin no more." Nowadays people just do what they want and justify it, or if they go on a guilt trip they might ask for forgiveness with no intention of turning away from that sin. Shameful. This is why the New Testament stress picking up our cross, and dying daily to ourselves. We cannot fulfill our own desires unless they line up with the Word of God. And yes, I am also preaching to myself, lol.
