Like this frog, the world is being boiled to its death in perversion, and most are none the wiser. Satan has ratcheted up the witchcraft to such a degree that the conscience of man has been almost irreparably seared (I Timothy 4:2).
We are in the last of the last days. While no man knows the day or the hour, the Lord does give us signs to note so that we are not caught unawares.
"Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done." Mark 13 21:28-30
In the eyes of our Lord, the nation of Israel is as a fig tree. The springing forth of the fig tree above describes the rebirth of the nation of Israel.
"I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved." Hosea 9:10
The nation of Israel was eventually destroyed due to the stiff-necked rebellion of God's people. They went to Baalpeor and separated themselves from God because they preferred this shame to His glory. As it was then, so it is now.
Yet, Israel would be reborn according to the word of The Lord. In fact it is the only nation historically which had been lost for several hundred years, but came back into being.
“Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.” Jeremiah 24:5-6
By this prophecy, we can understand what the Lord tells His disciples about the end times: The generation which sees Israel reborn again as a nation would not perish before the end had come. Israel became a nation state again on May 14, 1948 and the generation born at that time would now be approaching 70 years old.
Just consider the difference between our society in 1948 and now. Back then, there was still at least the appearance of morality; and things which now seem commonplace were taboo.
Take fornication for example. In the 1940's, it was not mainstream to promote fornication as a natural path to love. Yet today, people sleeping together before marriage - or trying out multiple partners - is considered normal. It is simply no big deal; the only surprise is if you don't do these things.
Am I saying that we should go back to the 1940's? No. There was still evil present then, even if it was under a cover of morality. What I am saying is look how far Satan has boiled the pot? In very short order, Satan has taken what would have been considered an abomination and made it not only acceptable, but preferable. He is certainly changing times and laws (Daniel 7:25). He is doing the same now with homosexuality.
There are now graphic illustrations of homosexual activity in the media...not in some remote porn setting, but on mainstream television during prime time hours. And if you say anything about it, the response is volatile. What is Satan doing? Heating up the pot.
Chick-fil-A stood for the institution of marriage and people were enraged, even saying how Chick-fil-A businesses were not welcome in certain cities. The problem - many stated - was that Dan Cathy should keep his personal views to himself and separate from the company. Yet, Starbucks on the other hand implies that shareholders disagreeing with its very public stance on gay marriage sell their stock, and you could hear crickets chirping. What is happening? Satan is turning up the pot.
What we are seeing are the effects of witchcraft. As Satan continues to boil the minds of men with perversion, he conducts checkpoints every now and then to see how reprobate man's mind has become. Remember, Satan is the King of Sodom and when he is revealed in the figure of the Anti-Christ, the whole world will wonder after him (Revelation 17:8). He is molding a world of sodomites to prepare the way for his own manifestation.
This is why the City of Houston's efforts to subpeona church sermons for anti-gay sentiment was recently dropped. Such was not a victory for Christians. Satan was simply testing the waters, saying "OK, I cannot go there just yet. I need to indoctrinate and infiltrate the minds a little more." Satan is gradually taking man's mind into reprobation...from which there is no recourse (Romans Chapter 1).
Folks, this is ALL game. Democrat vs. Republican, Liberal vs. Conservative, none of this stuff matters. Why? Because it is all of the world. Whatever group you get your identity from, it is all on the same train. The god of this world is driving his people into the abomination of Baalpeor, no matter the caboose in which you ride. Unless we get our identity in Christ Jesus, we will also be led astray (Acts 17:28).
The voices of perversion grow louder and more bold while the voices of righteousness grow more dim. Why? Because people are afraid. Why are people afraid? Because there is some part of them that is still tied to this present evil world...even just a little bit.
"Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?" I Corinthians 5:6
There is something in this world people enjoy more than Christ, and it is a yoke of bondage no matter how slight. It is like professing Christians who justify watching some of these filthy television shows: "Oh, I don't like those parts either. I turn my head or turn the channel during those times." Yet it is all produced by the same perverse spirit. Do we really believe that we can take fire unto our bosom and not be burned (Proverbs 6:27)? As long as we continue to engage in - and be entertained by - the world, we remain in the boiling pot.
Things in the world are moving exponentially towards the days of Noah and the days of Lot (Matthew 24:27; Luke 17:28-30). The answer for us is to extract ourselves from the world. It is time for the church to jump out of the comfort zone of the "pot" and into the purifying fire.
"And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:27-29
As we do, things will move beyond the realm of mere talk and into action as we go forth in power to save souls.
"Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me." John 14:30
